Big time shout out to our friends Mandy & Kate who are going to tag team on taking care of Inja! Mandy is going to adopt Inja until the 11th of June and Kate is going to take over from there. You have no idea how grateful we are! You guys are awesome!
Also, another shout out to our dear friend Jack, who is taking care of our cats, Itchy & Scratchy (yes, they are actually named that). In addition, he’s going to keep our houseplants company. Jack is also our friend who started his own soup business, be sure to check out his web site and if you live in Chicago, order some soups!

17 days on the road, and what are we supposed to bring?
We’ve developed a list of things we need to pack. Most of the stuff is obvious for a road trip: camping supplies, cooler, sunglasses, road map, passport, etc. But the big thing is what are we going to do to entertain ourselves? At minimum, with no traffic delays and no side trips, we’re going to have 67 hours of being on the road. 67 hours. Good gawd.
So naturally we leaned toward the iPod. Check. We’ll bring board games for any bored evenings at campgrounds, along with a deck of cards. Books and booze as well. But other than music – how would you find ways to distract yourself in a car – epecially while driving through some of the longer routes with little change in scenery (Hellloooooo Saskatchewan!)? Do you have any favorite car games?
Here’s a few we’re aware of: The Alphabet game – each player in the car has to start with the letter A and work his/her way to Z by spotting each letter of the alphabet, in order, on road signs (and no, dad, liscense plates STILL do not count).
Any other suggestions? Because while we’re not desperate now for ideas, something tells me when we’re in the middle of South Dakota – we will be.
